Torrevieja is a Mediterranean coastal town situated approximately 50 kilometers from Alicante on the Costa Blanca.The nearest airports are Alicante (El Altet) which 45 kilometers away and Murcia (San Javier) which is about 30 kilometers. It is easily accessible due to the main N322 road and the A7 motorway.

The climate in the Torrevieja area is said, by the World Health Organisation, to be one of the healthiest anywhere in the world. The combination of the salt lakes and the surrounding mountains creates a unique microclimate.

This climate is said to be good for sufferers of arthritis, rheumatism and asthma. The area can boast about 320 days of sunshine, On average temperatures in the winter rangeing from 14 to 20°C and in the summer from 30 to 40°C. With a low annual rainfall, you´re not going to find a better place to stay with such a balance of favourable conditions.

Local markets are held weekly in the Torrevieja area. They are excellent for buying a wide variety of products, including fruit, vegetables, clothing, shoes and almost anything you may need. Listed below are some of the local markets and the day that they are open.

Wednesday - Guardamar, La Mata and San Miguel
Thursday - San Javier, Rojales and Alicante
Friday - Torrevieja and Los Montesinos
Saturday - Almoradi, Santa Pola, Elche and Alicante
Sunday - Guardamar to Montesinos road ( El Campico), and Quesada to Montesinos (El Zoco)
